Diving/Freediving thread

Im in Australia and theres some great diving spots around where I'm staying. I have some short fins but am looking to buy some longer open heel fins witch I'll be using for free diving, any suggestions on what make to go for? I thinking i don't want to get split fins, or freediving long fins, so i can use them for scuba too.

Also whats the coolest thing you have seen on a dive?

I saw a 140 year old turtle at the great barrier reef, he was the size of a small car!

This cool little bubble fort is in Lake Tahoe. Was supposed to be a secret but that didn't last long.

Hawaii dive. 15' manta rays, tons of turtles, awesome caves, coral, feesh. I have a saltwater aquarium, so diving was an amazing experience for me.

I broke my beuchat mundial(freediving) fins this fall and has been diving with a pair of aqualung blades 2 flex(scuba) it works but two seperate pairs is infinetly better.

(dont get me wrong they broke during transport)

No. It's at 15 feet. At 30 feet or less, unless you stayed down for days, you wouldn't even saturate. Given that the dome they built needs the air manually replaced via scuba tank I don't think they're ever down long enough for that to be a problem. It could even be as deep as 115 feet before the amount of oxygen in normal air becomes toxic, although you would have to stay no more than 20 minutes or so and do decompression stops on the way up.

Your lungs don't care if they breathe pressurized air, within a reasonable range of pressures. The only danger is if you hold in a lung full of pressurized air and swim to the surface with it. The air would expand on the way up, rupturing your lungs. All you need to do to avoid this is exhale as you swim up. As for your eardrums, you simply pop them to equalize on the way up or down, like on an airplane.

Carry one of these down with no air in it, then inflate it once you're inside the bubble. It'll float just fine and give people something firm to sit on.
