With other species, it isn't so bad. Bass just have that big mouth with thin skin and it's much easier to land them on a 3/0+ hook, but like snakeheads, they have a real fleshy mouth so I can hit a 24" snakehead on a small hook (like #2) and don't have to worry nearly as much about the fish shaking it loose.
