>>977959I can second this. I grew up using a mid 80s, then a mid 90s, starcraft popup for family trips. Used 'em probably 6ish times a year all through the 80s until 2003. They are more comfortable than a tent, and if properly cared for, will last a damn long time. Most care I remember is "make sure shits dry before you store it for more than a day or two" and "set it up every few months to make sure critters arent setting up shop in it".
After moving halfway across the country, and leaving our mid 90s one with family who didn't use it and take care of it, it fell apart, which was a shame. They had it stored on some property in the middle of nowhere, and didn't really do much with it, and mice got into it and tore the whole thing to pieces.
When actually traveling with it, it had tons of extra storage space, and having an attached screen patio was really nice if you were in a place with lots of insects.
I know a pop-up is something I'm looking at getting once I get a house with enough space to store it.
