I would not take the sharp Northward turn up the massif central,, better to cut across to the GR that crosses the maritime alps.

Personally I'd do it on a bike + two large waterproof panniers.

>sleeping pad
>sleeping bag
>repair ger for bike
>stove and pot and cutlery
>torch, fak, wash kit
