Lens-based image stabilisation works by electromagnets shifting a lens element or group around to move the image circle.
That movement is controlled by a microcontroller and gyroscopic sensors.
In body image stabilisation works quite simmilar, however instead of a lens, it moves the sensor.
Only in rare cases you will find actual gyroscopes stabilizing the camera, that's usualy not quite as effective for a handheld camera as other means of image stabilisation, it is bulky, it is heavy, it drains betteries like crazy and it is also more expensive.
