I have been a a Nikon D200 CHAD for the past year and a half but due to shear boredom and the screen being absolute dogshit I impulsively bought a Fujifag XT-3 because random people on the internet told me it was good, what am I in for? what lens should I get?

I own a D200 and a D600. Sold my D600 for an XT-3. The XT-3 was great in a lot of ways. Superb build quality, ergonomics, live view and quality of life features. It was a significant image quality downgrade from the D600 though. These days I have the D200, a D800 and a Sony A7R II. The Fuji was better than the Sony in terms of ergonomics and speed but significantly worse image quality.

It will be an upgrade in every way except color science than the D200. I still have my D200 for a reason.

I never thought the "pentaprism" Fujis started looking good until the X-H1.
The proportions of the X-T series always looked wrong.

There's nothing wrong with the shape; it's the dimensional proportions.
It's too thin to have a pentaprism hump.
Since you ask though, the mount and VF should be moved as far to the edge of the body as possible, with the lens lock button being in the corner.

Got my silver XT3 this year for $625.99 during the price gouge, super happy with it.
most used len is Sigma 30 f1.4, fast AF, but lacking a little bit of "Fuji color" in post-proccessing.
Customize all the macro butttons cuz the default is trash.
Right now im looking for Viltrox 13mm but not in a hurry, just wait for the right time.
For extra $150, it's totally worth choosing this over XT2 because of the bluetooth, the mobile app has been useful for me in many situations.
XT4 got baited with the "industry standard" lcd screen.
XT5 is just plastic.
XT3 is the equivalent of Thinkpad T470.
Took it to several trips and confident with the weather seal.

it only looks thin is because the lack of grip compare to A7C, A6000 series.
Fuji has those for X100, XE, Xpro and GFX you can take off the VF like a extension.
that fake pentaprism hump is there to match the manual dials.
Picture this, XT user put the camera on the tripod, both hands adjust separated dials instead of swinging the left hand to the right, hover VF and turn on and off the screen.
That's the whole reason people buy a XT-X series, manual dialing.

Can shaped camera when? There is no real absolute requirement for cameras to be the same rectangle shapes that film cameras needed to be. I would even say that it’s probably one of the least ergonomic.

The D2x is even better, with notiecably more resolution when shot in uncompressed RAW with the finest lenses, and greater color accuracy as well.

I wouldn't trade my D2x for anything!

Mine (D2Xs) shades the viewfinder outside of a centre circle (pic related) whenever I give it power.
Do you have any idea what it's doing?

Viewing its sample images indicates that its image quality is consistently acceptable, with better results achieved in RAW.

It's JPEG rendering subtely distorts everything distant or in less than perfect focus, where its RAW images are cleaner and more refined.

I pitted the Zfc against my D2x. The Zfc does manage to outresolve the D2x in almost all shooting situations.

The D2x has more consistent color accuracy however.

A downgrade

Fuji ergos are quite shit. Fuji firmware is also quite shit. Fuji IQ is quite shit. Only a high performing FF flagship, with no options that aren't crippled with other copes, could justify putting up with the ergos alone.

See: the state of nikon's FF mirrorless lineup

t. used an xt4 before, went to niggon, had to cope and settle for a zf because nikon's next cameras will probably be another 60+mp baby z8-like thing and a z5ii with who knows what crippled to separate the product line

this and 35mm f1.4 and 23mm f1.4 or f2 if you're cheap. The pancake 27 is cool but super out of stock new and used.

Alternatively the original kit lens with IS. I like primes more though.

Thinkpad X1 Gen 6 maybe, same year 2018.
I got a x1 yoga 2018 and T430s as well.
Don't want to sell it cuz value is too low anyway.
Editing this shot with X1 yoga 2018 on a camping trip, mountain to beach.
Planning to try A72 or A6400 but they're all used up work horses.
