If I make a piece of software and sell it, there's an expectation that I support it with security patches and bug fixes at a minimum for a certain period of time.
If I can buy a video game from 15 years ago that's still getting security fixes, the nigger devs making C1 can afford to push them.
Even pushing new camera/lens data to old versions would be zero extra work. New features and significant improvements on the other hand, I understand being locked behind a newer version.
My point being, if I buy something labeled a "perpetual" licence, it shouldn't be deemed obsolete the second someone finds an exploit or I buy a lens that came out the week after.
