Ever hear of the 80/20 rule?
Full frame is like 60% to getting a good image. APS-C less, MFT far worse, phones even worse.
It's just cheap enough to be good enough to not justify going for more unless you actually care about photography a lot. Like, if you own a studio and a do tilt shift product photography and photograph artwork you'll want a larger format, usually an unfiltered sensor and color wheels instead. All of this is REQUIRED for good imaging but doesn't really fit in a portable single-capture size for normies to use, so full frame is a compromise. Cheaper, portable, easy to use, and good "enough' for normies.
