>>4477395>Why is 10 year old Walmart DSLR still the same MP as an R6Because speed. The higher resolution the slower the scan out, and the slower the scan out the less the FPS and the more rolling shutter.
This is why there's two types of cameras:
1. R variant full-frame cameras designed specifically to have the highest resolution possible (48MP+) for people who demand said resolution increase
2. Mainline cameras that have stayed on 24MP as a balance between image quality and performance.
If you need the resolution, buy a camera that specifically goes for higher resolution.
Nikon has been trying hard to get their pro body stuff to perform well with 40MP+, it's generally pretty okay, the micro-four-thirds people are dead set on never going above 20MP/25MP, because OM targets wildlife shooters and Panasonic targets video people, two demographics that have made it clear that they'd rather shoot 5MP than risk the chance of a missed shot due to some sort of wobbling, so they're scared of going higher.
It all depends on what you want.
