The extra detail in the frontier scan is quite apparent. The matting material on the floor proves to have texture previously unseen in the Epson scan, and the leaves on the tree in the background show they're shaped and not blobs. The people sitting on the bench also are far more detailed.
On a camera with a better lens I am unsure if there would be even more detail to be found - I'm not sure if I'm hitting an optical limitation here or a scanning one.
I also scanned some Velvia 50 6x6 if anyone wants a comparison without grain
