Why should the camera be perfect for them and compromised for everyone else? For over 50 years of photography, the average person's camera was about the size of an a7c. Not rangefinders, most older SLRs were that small. No one wants the bulk of something the size of a medium format camera bouncing against their chest all day.
Using long lenses is not the norm so why should the camera be designed specifically for that situation at the cost of the actual norm? You aren't the default. It's actually ideal if you, the edge case user, has to stick on a grip extension, because you are the minority of users and should have the least say.
Unfortunately this is capitalism and zoom users waste the majority of the money...
