Thanks to whoever recommended the 16-85 nikkor to me.
I managed to get it 1/3 cheaper than what it usually goes for on the used market here (usual price being $280), and it's a good universal zoom. I'm see the benefit of not limiting myself to 50/70, I utilize the longer end of the zoom fairly often. The only thing that's missing is bokeh, it wouldn't hurt to have a bit more for portraits (of course, I can always bring the 35 f/1.8 along)
