I like 16:9 for street photography because it makes you feel it's a establishing shot in a film and another character is about to walk in.
I like oval cropping for portraits because it looks more like a painting and somehow makes it look less fleeting or whatever.
I like square crops for symmetry in some cases and sometimes because it was more common in early photography so it helps throw off the viewer a little when they try to guess the context of the picture
