>>4012200The way you get good at photography isn't to take a lot of pictures. Actuating the shutter on a digital camera isn't practicing photography. If that were true, everyone with a smartphone would be an expert and have completed their first 20k photographs.
The way you improve is to practice critically. A digital camera removes the incentive to practice critically because there is no penalty for mistakes.
Also, I don't have this belief because I heard others opinions. I started shooting on 35mm when I was 14, I'm in my late 20s now. I quickly picked up a DSLR. I also kept shooting film and moved to medium format. I now only shoot digital.
Also, my premise was never that it is bad to start on digital. My premise is that starting on 35mm and getting proficient that way will give you an advantage later on.
