>>3222082The flow through the image is lovely. The lady's forearm leading down to her fingers which bring you to the parrot(?). The shape of the parrot and how it perfectly covers the left side of the kid's head continues this movement down to the kid's face. His(?) downward gaze to the left side of the frame is picked up by his(?) crossed arms which finally bring you to the kid on the right whose gaze brings you out of the bottom right side. Through that flow the details you are able to stop on and notice are fantastic. The red and green pops of color are beautifully utilized (this image is included in his ~150 image book whose theme is Alex Webb's way of seeing/using color in his compositions. His compositions are meant to be read, not taken in at a glance. They are complex and worth looking at closely.
For me, the icing on the cake is the crossed arms in the window in the upper right. That completes the composition for me and fills in an area that could've been deadspace.
Here's another image from his book, The Suffering of Light, that also has a beautiful flow and use of color with so many little details to explore.
