It's for when you don't really know what kind of look you're going for, because it doesn't have a strong character and gives an overall decent performance in everything. For comparison, Superia Premium 400 has strong inherent contrast and powerful reds while Pro 400H has its signature pastel look. I prefer the former over 400H and Portra because it's how I used to see things as a kid. With Portra you depend on your lens and possibly a polarizer to bring out some character.
