>>2980691After I moved the ring a bit the 'bump' disappeared. Feels like the lens was been focused for the first time so that's good.
Yes, there is a very slight, tiny moving towards the back of it (the zoom area).
However I can only hear it, you don't feel it on your fingers. Also it is a soft sound, 'bassy' not like harsh like broken parts.
It sounds like it is something normal for a sub $1000 lens.
Also from some Sigma forums:
"there is definitely play in the lens if I shake it gently. Most likely in the areas that allow it to zoom. The 17-50 has even more moving parts with the addition of OS, so this doesn't surprise me. Others can confirm, but I suspect it's quite normal."
"I am betting that is the OS you are hearing/feeling.
Is the same rattle apparent with the camera on and the OS engaged? If so there may be an issue. If not it is the OS.
I have the new Sigma 17-70 2.8 - 4 and it does the same thing. I was so worried that I even e mailed Sigma and got a very quick nice response telling me it is the OS. "
What's the OS about?
I think it is normal but will keep an eye at it.
