I was supposed to get a portrait at 2pm but got an email pushing it to 3. ended up getting a text from their TM saying 4 so I met at the spot and waited 30 minutes and they never showed up. I called him and he said they were having trouble getting into the festival so he had to cancel but he could maybe swing it after their performance. I asked if I could get backstage access for their set and he said it was up to the stage manager (i don't think it is) and when I objected he just didn't reply. o well
I waited for him at the VIP entrance and he showed up 5 minutes late and the guy guarding the entrance was being irrational and not letting us in even though it's literally the tour manager with escort privilege or whatever. the TM gets pissed and goes backstage again and brings I think the stage manager? he was super high up and ended up escorted like 8 people along with us. 3 others were photographers.
so we go backstage and we're hanging around waiting for everyone to finish up. everyone has about a 5 minute time range and they're just doing normal photos or whatever. I had this idea while watching people's silhouettes waiting and edited a bit in photoshop. I took one with flash at another location but it didn't really look good.
COOLEST band I've ever chatted with. the drummer is into photography and wanted to see the photos really bad and we talked gear. I was wearing a band shirt for a local punk band and the vocalist was asking me all about it. it's cool to me when bands are human and especially at moments like these.
then I saw my friends in foxing and we hung backstage while scarfing down the leftovers from the artist catering. good ass shit.
