You can modify the thing to take 35mm or 220 film and take panoramas that go over the sprocket holes while keeping track of the film advance by counting clicks while winding. Once you understand how everything works, you can modify things with a kindergarten arts-and-crafts level effort, and replace it for $10-30 if you catastrophically fuck it up. I've met an absolute madman with a lens for a Hasselblad hot glued to a sawed up Holga. Some people use a little knife to add their own functional aperture setting. Basically for a damp handful of dollar bills, you get a camera that you can use to do literally any kind of photography with, and modify to add new features like one of those fuji cameras. Somebody got a fucking Pulitzer winning shot with a Holga.
If you have the discipline, stick with the Holga for a full year. It will teach you more about the real fundamentals of photography than any book or idiot YouTuber or art college professor can. Just don't leave them in hot parked cars. If it's hot enough to kill a dog or small child, it will definitely melt a Holga.
