i like space as much as the next guy and i love looking at astrophotography, but i find i get bored of it quickly. i always come back to it eventually but i can only look at it for so long in a sitting before i'm bored. there are only so many ways you can photograph the same subject from the same angle and have them look meaningfully unique from each other. the most versatile ones i think are from hubble because they probably have so much more information than amateur ground based telescopes and cameras but afaik the raw versions (or whatever the equivalent of that would be) for them aren't available to the public to develop them yourself and play around with that to get interesting different results. the wavelengths they capture are so much more than just the visible spectrum and the way they look is a result of mixing everything together in a certain way. there are so many variables you could play with to get different interesting looks.
