Here's the thing, it takes like 2 years to design and mass manufacture a full frame sensor for launch.
Sony is the supplier of the D850 sensor and they already knew about the D850 sensor years ago. The A7R iii was prepared beforehand because they knew it was coming.
And They have known about this new Nikon mirrorless sensor as well.
But the A7 iii was released this year, Sony confidently released this camera, knowing the Nikon mirrorless arrived 6 months later.
That means Sony designed the specs of the A7 iii sensor while knowing the specs of the Nikon mirrorless.
The upper hand will be at Sony.
