>You're confusing BRIGHTNESS with SAMPLE SIZE. Brightness is arbitrary and a function of selected gain. The amount of information is carried by the photons hitting the sensor and at equivalent apertures you get the same photons assuming the same transmission. When you work at a lower aperture, you're collecting less information over the whole sensor.
