>>3311463It really only matters if you are using auto-features. You can get some good info, if your camera supports telling you, but for people going full-M there's no need. I suppose if you are involved in some high speed action and need to get shots of subjects that are constantly changing distances from you, it'd be a nice feature. Still, once you get some time under your belt with manual lenses, you will be faster than any auto-feature except perhaps for white balance if you want WB to be perfect.
Zone focusing is your friend.
