Got into photography years ago because I wanted to shoot local rock concerts, found out quickly that low-light fast-moving subjects is a whole other ballgame and also that most venues don't allow "professional" cameras with changeable lenses.
Could I do well with a smaller fixed-lens like a point and shoot? It's an area I've never even looked at before so I don't know much about them. I could see myself carrying one with me in other places too for the snapshits, but mostly it's for concerts. Low, frequently-shifting lighting and subjects that will be typically 5-25 meters away.
Any thoughts or recommendations? What could I get for less than $300? Or should I just learn to git gud with the phone I already have?
