Actually both Z-mount and RF is struggling a bit.
Canon is a little bit more successful because they have the Aperture whore crowd.
Nikon tried to fish for the F1,8 crowd, but the F1,8 crowd doesn't actually exist. That crowd is called "The Tiny lens + affordable lens crowd", and it's solidly planted on the Sony side at the moment.
Sony is doing the multifront Hydra strategy.
Sigma is providing the F1,2 lenses for the Aperture whores.
Tamron is providing the small, light, cheap F2,8 zooms for that particular base.
Sony themselves are releasing F1,4 and F2,8 zooms. And the overall strategy seems to be fairly successful.
