Why shouldn't I just choose the good one? If it was 5x the price, that might be a reason, but it isn't?
Bad lateral CA's are a big one on crappy wideangles, and also slow apertures that make low light focusing very hard. Also the fact that most vintage stuff 24mm or wider won't be as sharp in the mid-frame at f/11 as a modern lense is at 2.8.
Fast & long lenses with longitudinal CAs and spherical abberation out the ass just do not compare to newer ones visually, let alone in terms of sharpness.
Pic related is a photo taken at 1/250 with a ttl flash, at 1/60 it would have included more of the yellow ambient light and potentially shown motion blur.
