I've been shooting film for many years now. I've always much preferred medium format film due to the dynamic range and colours. It's also been the only way I could afford to shoot high quality photos. However, now I can afford either a very high quality $3,000 medium format scanner, or I could spend that money on a high-end DSLR and get some good lenses.
Question is: have digital sensors improved in terms of dynamic range and colour to the point where its comparable to a 6x7 negative? Also, is the dynamic range comparable? Last time I used a DSLR was about 3 years ago.
