a teacher asked me to scan some of his slides from the mid 90s, however they seem to be in really bad shape. pic related is a portion of the one in worst condition, it's a blown out highlight so you can clearly see the stuff on them. seems to be mold.
is it possible to clean that up without ruining them, or has the mold already ate the emulsion? is it at least safe to clean the non-emulsion 'shiny' side with a q-tip and some distilled water?
I've never worked with slides before so I don't want to mess with them. got asked to scan them as they are first but said that if I could clean them up to get a cleaner scan it'd be great.
