This is difficult to interpret mainly because of the play of light, but also because of the emphasized background. The focus is on the man's face, but from there you are more distracted than directed to the two people in the statue. But I also don't see any real way to counter this without further reduction, and I see two other interesting frames that play with the relationship of the subjects.
