>>4170363>weather sealingaka weather resistance (the more accurate term for an oh-shit insurance policy)
is a stupid meme and you are stupid for relying on it. if a camera is not depth rated waterPROOF, it has shoddy seals that will wear down and even vacuum water into the body if you operate a zoom ring or a button. by the time your camera is two years old whatever shitty weather resistance it ever had is as good as gone. weather resistance means your camera is less likely to get water in it if you stop using it, or have it sitting on a tripod running on its own, when it rains.
i understand that lots of people will say "works for me". people have also said that for cameras that weren't weather resistant. rainwater doesn't destroy electronics as enthusiastically as saltwater and cameras are generally pretty tight even without stupid O rings around the shutter button and lens mount. the people who it didn't work for were too busy crying to say anything about it. use a rain bag.
and i understand that this very simple solution repulses you, as an xpro shooter and therefore fashion victim, but it is more effective than any "weather sealing" ever put in a camera unless you own an olympus tg6.
