Regardless of how many pixels you have, what is important is the signal level (photon level) per pixel. It doesn't matter if you have or a one million. What matters is the photons per pixel.If that's true then why is the 5DsR cleaner than the 7D mark II? Same pixel density, roughly the same tech level. According to you only the photons per pixel matters, and shot noise is additive between pixels. So the SNR of one pixel is the SNR of one million pixels. That's your claim, right?
Then why is the larger sensor cleaner than the smaller one? Same pixel size and tech, same per-pixel SNR...why is one cleaner?
