Wide open there's a little loss of sharpness which reduces the pop from the in-focus texture.
Overall totally stoked with the IQ from this lense though, I'd never really been interested in carrying around mega zooms just for the perspective control, as they give up too much IQ, and shooting on film from a tripod, I'm never really sure if the IS systems are working with me or against me.
With this lense I'll be able to make bulb exposures and know that at least the lense elements are centred.
And really flawless distortion, sharpness and CA.
MFD sucks, but I can use tubes for smaller objects.
