>>3652929>>3653551> Why so little “pro” glass for DX? >Why are so many of Nikon’s latest DSLRs still using AF systems from 8-10 years ago (D780 uses the same AF system as the D7100 introduced in 2013, D5600 uses AF system from D7000 introduced in 2010)? >Why does Nikon not address issues with live-view shooting that have persisted since 2010 (Poor LV autofocus in pretty much all Nikon DSLRs excluding D780, cant change aperture while in LV for many Nikon DSLRs)? >1 series instead of mirrorless APS-C? How’d that decision work out for you, Nikon?>What is a firmware update?Past Nikons were solid devices; indeed solid enough that current Nikon (DSLRs) are at least “competitive” using much of the same technology, but new models offer precious little over older models. For example, compare Nikon’s DX lineup with Fuji or Sony APS-C; no one is getting excited about the evolution of Nikon DX, and that’s the problem (sure, Nikon impresses more with FX line, which is where they push all of their customers to be anyway, but DX is the volume market where they should be focusing more of their effort). Accordingly, existing Nikon users have few compelling options for upgrading, meaning that most of us stick with our old gear and Nikon isn’t getting nearly as much money as they could from their existing customers. It’s the combination of “Nikon knows best”, “customers don’t NEED that”, and “good enough” for the past years that has put Nikon where it is today.
