Nikon D5500, super beginner hobbyist here, just got into it 6 months ago. Used camera came with the 18-55mm kit lens, and a NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G lens. Both are pretty mediocre lenses, the telephoto being the better of the two. Thinking about selling them both and getting a used Sigma 18-250 3.5-6.3 to fill both roles.
Does this at least seem like a lateral move? I've heard these superzooms are kind of not great but neither are the two lenses I currently have, and a nice lateral move except the convenience of paring them down into one lens sounds nice to me. Sigma 18-250s go for like $130ish used on ebay
