>>3191607I shot medium format exclusively from 2007 until 2015, when I picked up my Sony A7. It definitely fits the bill. I still enjoy using medium format more, but the files from the A7 are killer. Digital has definitely arrived. Hell, look at all the professional photographers that used to shoot medium format but have made the switch to digital.
I use my Sony to scan and it beats any flatbed I've used (Canoscan 8400f, Epson v500, v600, v750) and I'd say with stitching it would match the quality of a 9000ED which I used from 2008-2012. Even without stitching my A7 gives me beautiful 3900px x 3900px scans. Buying an expensive film scanner in this day and age is silly. A modern digital camera and good macro lens will match, of not best, the quality and take a fraction of the time to scan. The 9000ED took ~5 minutes a frame. I can scan a whole roll of 120 including setup and teardown in thst time. The dude suggest for you to buy a $1k V850 is off his rocker.
Unrelated: got 19 rolls of E6 deved.
