So heres my deal: I got sucked into using vintage glass because of the "ooh aah special looks" meme, and ended up staying because its cheap.
Vintage glass doesnt necessarily have to look better OR DIFFERENT from modern lenses, and the ones that do are way too expensive for what they're worth.
Anyway here are some lenses that I personally like
Minolta MD 50mm F2, beautiful rendering, lovely round out of focus balls with uniform luma, I am so sad I never got to adapt this one to digital, it would have been rly nice but ohwell
Chinon Auto Chinon Multi Coated 50mm f1.7
Cheap as dirt, comes bundled with shitty chinon CS cameras and its a very respectable little thing, it was sharper than my pentacks screwmount 50 1.8 wide open AND had more pleasant out of focus areas.
Tamron SP 90mm 2.5 Adaptall, TACK sharp lens, costs nothing, great for DSLR scanning film, can be adapted to a multitude of different mounts with native metering.
I'm not gonna suggest anything nikon despite that being my main system, its memed to hell and way too expensive to deliberately buy into just for "the vintage look", picrel is taken with the 85 f2 ai, it has nothing special going on for it except its a nice lens that does what it needs to do.
