You look at the display in the viewfinder or on top of the camera instead. It's less advantageous if you have to use the back screen but still workable.

>>4190365For me the best thing about aperture rings is that it makes adapting a breeze. Shooting Nikon G lenses on EF is... not great. I have an adapter that actuates the aperture mechanism but there's no detents. Luckily most of my Nikon F lenses aren't G type. I don't think it's such a good feature on modern control by wire models, same with focus by wire too. It locks you in.
