>>3119122i own the sony 35 1.8 and its pretty decent. you get some muh bokeh which is always cheering at the start, and has good low light performance. its not that sharp wide open but sufficient for portraits which is what you neet wide open for most of the time. good sharpness stopped down a little and very sharp at 5.6. i especially like the smallness and weight and the fast autofocus is important for most beginners probably. for technical reasons i'd go for the sigma though because i dont really need the fastes af possible or oss. from benchmarks the optical quality seems superior. downside: much heavier and bigger so if you shoot street or want to carry 24/7 you think about the size.
seriously get the best lens you can afford instead of two bad ones even at the start - especially when it's around 50mm equivalent. both lenses are fine.
