While you're using grains, you're still capturing something you'd need look under an electron microscope to see. If you want to compare grains to pixels, here you go, pic related, film under a microscope. Other than that, digital cameras capturing that level of detail have only just recently arrived, and won't be practical to use just yet aside from a few niches. That's it. You have one side of photography that's been around for at least a century, and the other side only a couple decades. One of them is going to take a little while to catch up, while the other reached its peak god knows how long ago.
