They are pricing themselves out of the market by introducing only expensive lenses which are much larger than their current userbase has any interest in carrying. Instead of introducing overpriced f/2.8 zooms to market to pros who won't switch to a platform with such outdated autofocus and deficient lens options, they should have gotten a trio of f/4 zooms, 16-35mm f/4, 24-105mm f/4 and 70-200mm f/4, to appeal to their current users. The $1700 body with 36 MP and IBIS is an easy upgrade path for current users, but not if the entire mid range of FF compatible lenses is a cavernous hole in their lens roadmap. They only have one current production zoom lens under $1000 and a few current production primes under $500 - all of them either from the film era (43mm Ltd) or else somewhat newer but utilizing outdated screwdrive AF (like the 100mm macro). Non-professional enthusiasts spend a lot of money on camera equipment, but they don't always like to put all their eggs in one basket. Even lots of pros who aren't doing portraiture will appreciate the
