Imo photography as a pure hobby by itself is too artsy, and you can just try to use photography for the other things you enjoy doing. As long as it involves looking, you may want to capture a view to look at later, and photography is doing exactly that. /k/ will love if you post pictures of guns in various state of assembly, for example. Action cameras exist solely because people do sports, not necessarily to create artwork. You might want to capture a video of yourself working out to verify your form.
Otherwise you can try to create sentimental pictures that serve as a mnemonic key to a memory of the past. Extending on that, similar pictures that work on a wider audience and serve as a way to intentionally invoke emotion in others is the canonical pure way to do it. Imo you don't have to succeed in this part to enjoy taking pictures.
