Sometimes I really only push the shadows and highlights of certain colours in to make clean ends on the histogram, sometimes, I go further and really go into the colours.
People seem to actually be a bad subject for this because of skin colour, but especially on pic related, it felt like I really seperated the face from the background and clothes. (top-right) is manipulated)
