Visual art only comes close to music in terms of embodied experience when it's physical. Photos aren't art unless they're printed and hung or projected at scale with the viewer. Digital photography, instagram, and the conditioning to look at pictures on screens has gutted photography as a medium. It's just mass consumption garbage regurgitating the same visual language over and over and over ad nauseam. Few people ever break new ground, it's just a competition of who conforms to genre the best.
