If you want the cinema 40mm look on your 35mm full frame stills camera, you use a 60mm lens. 36x24 is a rarity that had a short life as VistaVision. Most of the movies shot in that format were made between 1954 and 1961. Being a die-hard Hitchcock fan I'm familiar with the format, his classic Vertigo was shot in it. Don't mistake your ignorance of technical aspects of photography for my personal preferences.
