keep practicing past the point of getting dizzy from too much panning (I've actually done this a few times), and see if there are any foreground objects you can use for interesting blur
shooting through crowds and trees can look pretty cool, although it can sometimes be tricky getting the right angle and distance for it to work
bring a polariser or nd if you've got one also, I try to avoid stopping down further than f/16 when doing low speed pans
