You scan it in as a raw file which makes the scan negative, in Lightroom you invert it and then adjust the tone curves to the black/white point of each colour channel and export.

Pic related was shot with a shitty point and shoot on Superia 800, another film known for being super grainy. Scanned with a consumer Plustek 8100 at 3600dpi and "edited' in Lightroom the way I explained before.
