If you are young, then sure go for it. you have little to lose and this is the time in your life for you to experiment and shit. if you want to make kino, having a secure job with pay and working on passion projects during the weekend is the way to go about it.
join your cities filmmaking facebook group and ask if there is any videographers that wouldn't mind you shadowing them during a gig. most have to carry a shit ton of gear by themselves so they won't mind having someone to help them out during a shoot.
