I got a new monitor, my first FHD monitor. It has a LCD panel but a 3000:1 contrast ratio.
It has two settings that mess with me a bit: Gamer Mode and Black level
Black level to low is by default enabled and I lose detail in the blacks. Black level to normal gives me details back but everything is washed out again.
Gamer Mode: If I turn this on the screen gets brighter and I get some details in the blacks back, but lose details in the brights. If this is on I can adjust brightness instead of contrast (And turned it down to 70% because otherwise it hurts my eyes).
What should I keep? Is it important to keep the details in the very dark corners to work with it? or should I rather have darkish greys instead of actual blacks?
I looked at a few photos on here and found a good one that "measures" my problem:
>>3020890The clouds partially disappear when the blacks are set to low, the noise on the trunk completely disappears. The backlight seems overly red if gamermode is enabled and the fine rays and flares of the light disappear too.
