You can buy one of these things for like 500 bucks or even less. I've ran the gamut on 50 1.4's everything from old Zeiss and Pentax shit to the Milvus to the Nokton, the Nikkor AF-D and the newer Nikkors, the Russian 1.5 Sonnar clones, whatever. Objectively for the money the Sigma ART cannot be beat.
If OP you're dead set on looking vintage and having character, adapt a Helios 58/2 specifically an early one. I know it's a bokeh-machine but stopped down they are nice and have character. I have one on my Zenit-S. If you are on a Nikon AF system that can drive screw-focus AF-D glass, get the Nikkor 50 1.4 AF-D.
If you want unparalleled performance per dollar, get the Sigma ART.
