That exposure looks maybe 1 stop over, actually. Notice how there's no real darker tones let alone shadows. After a while you'll gain an intuition for how film responds to different lighting situations, although this is a lot easier in B&W than color... have you done much BW work?
When you're dealing with this kind of close focus I also recommend stopping down by a lot. The entire bottom third of the frame is totally out of focus and it doesn't look good.
